Bad highlights...?

i just highlighted my hair and now it looks orange! its suppost to be lightish brownish on my black hair.is there actually a natural/safe way to get the highlights a LITTLE dark or look more brown? and i used this http://www.blushingbuyer.co.uk/product_i... but the new packaging in orange.

Bad highlights...?

Your hair's orange, as it's displaying the underlying pigment of light brown (which is copper). You should now tone the copper out by using a light ash brown semi-permenant haircolor, or demi-permenant, right through the hair. The key word, is *ash*.

I have the same highlights color as you, and am an apprentice hairdresser, so trust me :) and don't worry. Half the work is done, with this step, you'll have gorgeous streaks.

Bad highlights...?

You could go to a beauty supply store and get a product called a demi-permanent color. It will not lift (lighten) your dark hair, but it will deposit color onto the lightened hair. It uses a low level of developer (peroxide) so that it actually stains your hair. It will eventually wash out, but it won't harm your hair and you can do it as often as you need to. Be sure to get a color that does not have a gold or red base, but one that has a neutral base. Otherwise you'll end up with a funkier color than you already have. Keep in mind that whatever you put on your hair will be affected by the orange color, so it pays to pay attention to the rules of the "color wheel" that you learned in art class. And use a color that's lighter than you want because the addition of the demi-permanent color on top of the orange will be darker in appearance. Of course, the best answer would be to go to a salon and let them correct it for you.
